Dedicated in 2014, the Elsie Coulter Reading Terrace is located just outside the Adult Library, near the magazine section.
It is named in memory of Elsie Coulter, who retired in 2013 after 43 years as a library staff member. Mrs. Coulter began her career at the South Huntington Library in 1970 as a clerk and rose to Head of Circulation in 1995, spending the balance of her tenure in this key public service position.
In the warmer months, the terrace features outdoor seating and umbrellas for patrons to enjoy.
