
The following community service opportunities are available to SHPL cardholders currently in grades 6-12.
Participants must sign up with their own SHPL card in order to receive community service.
Community service letters are emailed within 2 weeks after the program.
Space may be limited.
Additional community service opportunities may be available to sign up for at Teen Advisory Board meetings.
Cat Totes: a Community Service Program
Saturday, March 1

Help us bring attention to cat and kitten adoption by decorating a tote bag for a new cat owner. Make one tote and earn a maximum of one hour of community service. No registration required.
Bears and Birds for Hospitalized Kids: a Community Service Program

Help make cuddly bear towels and colorful origami storks to send to hospitalized kids! One hour of community service. Registration begins February 21 at 7pm.
Friday Night Seed Sorting: a Community Service Program

Listen to some tunes and earn two hours of community service while getting seeds sorted, packaged and labeled for South Huntington’s Seed Library. Registration begins February 28 at 7pm.
Popsicle Stick Art: a Community Service Program

Stop by and decorate popsicle sticks with bright colors, geometric designs, or doodles for a collaborative art project which will be displayed in the young adult library this summer! One hour of community service. No registration required.

The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is an active organization made up of South Huntington teens in grades 6-12 who work together to make a difference in our library. Tell us your ideas for community service, programs and contests. Ms. Jen & Ms. Elizabeth will lead this meeting with what the YA Library is already planning for you with our programs and community service.
Community service hours are provided. New members are always welcome! This meeting is for South Huntington library district residents currently in grades 6-12. No registration is required.
Cards for a Cause: a Community Service Program

Cat Toys: a Community Service Program

Earn one hour of community service putting together a variety of materials to create cat toys for a Long Island cat rescue. Registration begins March 14 at 7pm.
Color Our World: a Community Service Program

Join us to make colorful creations that will set the stage for the summer reading challenge theme, “Color Our World.” One hour of community service. Registration begins March 21 at 7:00pm
Sensory Kits for Younger Children: a Community Service Program

Volunteers will put together sensory kits to donate to younger children in need. One hour of community service. Registration begins April 4 at 7pm.
National Nurses Week Thank You Goodie Bags: a Community Service Program
