The following community service opportunities are available to SHPL cardholders currently in grades 6-12.
Community service letters are emailed within 2 weeks after the program. Space may be limited.
Additional community service opportunities may be available to sign up for at Teen Advisory Board meetings.
Pet Bandanas: a Community Service Program
Sunday, March 3
2:00-4:00pm
Earn one hour of community service by decorating a pet bandana! One bandana equals one hour of community service, with a maximum of one hour of community service. No registration required, but supplies are limited.
Pet First Aid: a Community Service Program
Saturday, March 9
2:00-3:00pm
Join veterinarian Dr. Barone to learn the basics of first aid for pets, as well as how to perform CPR on different pets. One hour of community service for those who attend. Registration begins March 1 at 7pm.
Cards for a Cause: a Community Service Program
Wednesday, March 13
7:00-8:00pm
Help create handmade cards to donate to a local group! One hour of community service. Registration begins March 8 at 7pm.
Teen Advisory Board

The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is an active organization made up of South Huntington teens in grades 6-12 who work together to make a difference in our library. Tell us your ideas for community service, programs and contests. Ms. Jen & Ms. Elizabeth will lead this meeting with what the YA Library is already planning for you with our programs and community service. Meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday night of the month at 7pm. Community service hours are provided. New members are always welcome! No registration is required.
Cards for Hospitalized Kids: a Community Service Program

Earn a maximum of one hour of community service by creating 3 cards to donate to Cards for Hospitalized Kids. We will supply the materials and directions. No registration required.

Spring Placemats
Monday, April 1
5:00-7:00pm
Design cheerful spring themed placemats for local veterans. Two placemats equal one hour of community service, with a maximum of one hour of community service. No registration required.
Homemade Dog Treats: a Community Service Program
Friday, April 5
6:00-7:00pm
Create dog treats that will be donated to a local shelter on Long Island. One hour of community service. Registration begins Wednesday March 27 at 7pm.
Cards for a Cause: a Community Service Program
