Here is a list of upcoming community service opportunities for SHPL cardholders in grades 6-12.  Please feel free to contact the YA Department after 3pm at 631-549-4411 ext 209 with any questions.

Second Precinct Thank You Goodie Bag: a Community Service Program

2:00-3:00pm

Show gratitude and earn one hour of community service by creating goodie bags for the Second Precinct of the Suffolk County Police. For those in 6-12 grade.  Registration begins Friday, September 8 at 7pm. 

Huntington Manor Fire Department Thank You Goodie Bag: a Community Service Program

Show gratitude and earn one hour of community service by creating goodie bags for our Huntington Manor Fire Department. For those in 6-12 grade.  Registration begins Friday, September 8 at 7pm.

Teen Advisory Board

The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is an active organization made up of South Huntington teens in grades 6-12 who work together to make a difference in our library.  Tell us your ideas for community service, programs and contests.  Ms. Jen & Ms. Elizabeth will lead this meeting with what the YA Library is already planning for you with our programs and community service. 

Meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday night of the month at 7pm. Earn one hour of community service for attendance.  New members are always welcome!  This meeting is for South Huntington library district residents currently in grades 6-12. No registration is required.

Fall Decorations: a Community Service Program

Help transform the YA library by making some crafts which will be used as decorations. One hour of community service. Registration begins September 15.

Think Pink: a Community Service Program

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Join us as we make pink pumpkins and pink ribbons to bring awareness to the disease. One hour of community service. Registration begins September 22.
