Start Birding with the Times

The New York Times, along with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, is inviting people to explore birds in their area to help scientists fill in data gaps and give researchers a clearer picture of biodiversity in places that birders generally don’t frequent.

The population of nearly half of all bird species worldwide are known or suspected to be in decline. There is some thought that climate change could accelerate the loss of birds. People participating in this project will be gathering data to help inform decisions about the study and conservation of birds.

This project will run from now until September. You can learn more about birding and the Times summer project here

You can sign up as a participant here. Once registered, you will receive an email with a complete set of instructions.
