February 2022 - New Movies & TV Releases

Winter drives many of us into the confines of our homes and what better way to fill some of the idle hours than by checking out the new video additions your public library has to offer.  There are many smaller production companies releasing items of interest – all you have to do is refer to our monthly listings and place a hold - either in person, via phone or on our website.  Easy peasy!

  • In the comedic road trip Off the Rails, three best friends from college recreate their post-graduation trip across Europe to honor the memory of their friend Anna. Joining Kate (Jennie Seagrove), Liz (Sally Phillips), and Cassie (Kelly Preston) is Anna's 18-year-old daughter Maddie (Elizabeth Dormer-Phillips) fulfilling her mother's last wish to have them take this trip with her. When lost passports, train strikes, and romantic entanglements get in their way, they put old feuds aside to complete the journey and remind themselves that they are still at their peak.   This flick has been nominated “Best Buddy Picture” by the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards.

  • Bruce Willis as a cop?  No, it isn’t Die Hard, but Apex, an action/thriller that will be released this month.  Serving a life sentence for a crime he didn't commit, ex-cop Thomas Malone (Willis) is offered a chance at freedom if he can survive a deadly game of Apex. Six hunters pay for the pleasure of hunting another human on a remote island, but once Malone arrives all hell breaks loose. Laying traps and playing mind games, Malone tries to turn the tables and fight for his life and his future.

  • The sports docudrama King Richard follows the journey of Richard Williams (Will Smith), an undeterred father instrumental in raising two of the most extraordinarily gifted athletes of all time, who will end up changing the sport of tennis forever.

  • Sticking with sports and gearing up for the Super Bowl, why not try American Underdog, the inspirational true story of Kurt Warner, who went from a stock boy at a grocery store to a two-time NFL MVP, Super Bowl champion, and Hall of Fame quarterback. The film centers on Warner's unique story and years of challenges and setbacks that could have derailed his aspirations to become an NFL player, but just when his dreams seemed all but out of reach, it is only with the support of his wife, Brenda and the encouragement of his family, coaches, and teammates that Warner perseveres and finds the strength to show the world the champion that he already is.

  • Directed by filmmaker Peter Jackson, The Beatles: Get Back is a three-part documentary series that takes audiences back in time to the band's intimate recording sessions. It showcases the warmth, camaraderie, and creative genius that defined the legacy of the iconic foursome, and is compiled from over 60 hours of unseen footage shot in January 1969 (by Michael Lindsay-Hogg) and more than 150 hours of unheard audio, all of which has been brilliantly restored. Also featured, for the first time in its entirety, is The Beatles' last live performance as a group, the unforgettable rooftop concert on London's Savile Row, as well as other songs and classic compositions featured on the band's final two albums, Abbey Road and Let It Be.

  • Inspired by the shocking true story of the family behind the Italian fashion empire, House of Gucci is being released this month.  When Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga), an outsider from humble beginnings, marries into the Gucci family, her unbridled ambition begins to unravel the family legacy and triggers a reckless spiral of betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately, murder. Also featuring Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek and Jared Leto.
