“Books are for lovers”...at least that’s what romance fiction authors (and their fans) would like us to believe. In 2013, enthusiastic readers got together online to celebrate their favorite literary genre and encourage others to pick up and enjoy a romance novel. This month is a time when romance authors and readers can come together and start conversations.
The Romance of Reading Facebook group welcomes like-minded people to join in on their social media page for discussions and to share information, posts and news about good books, the industry and romance in general. Authors are also invited to post self-promotion pieces (release dates, giveaways, blog posts, etc.)
Each year’s celebration features specific authors and titles, many of which are up-and-coming or hot sellers. Don't wait until February or Valentine's Day to pick up a romantic read - you can find many of them right now at South Huntington Public Library, in our hardcover fiction and paperback romance collections. Some of the featured book selections from the event’s 2020 and 2021 calendars are now on display through mid-August (located on the Library’s main level, next to the Reading Terrace doors and adjacent to the fiction stacks).
For more information and reading recommendations, visit the group’s official Read-A -Romance Month website.
