Farewell to Overdue Fines

The South Huntington Library has permanently eliminated late fines on most of its materials, except for equipment -- including laptops and hotspots -- and museum passes.

By going fine free, the library can more fully pursue its mission to foster connections, satisfy curiosity and inspire creativity without financial barriers; the library is for everyone. After you enjoy your library items, please bring them back so others in the community can use them too.

Since the start of the pandemic last year, the library waived late fees, and as of April 1st it became official policy. Please be aware that while fines will not be charged for South Huntington materials, items borrowed from other libraries follow their lending rules and may incur late fees. If you place a hold, the item may come from another library and would therefore follow that library's lending rules.

Library materials will continue to be automatically renewed, unless another patron has placed it on reserve. Items that are not returned will be billed.
