Health Plan Help Available

If you have experienced changes in your employment and are in need of health coverage, NY State of Health is here for you. You may be eligible to enroll in a quality, affordable health plan for little or no cost. Individuals who lose job-based health insurance should apply within 60 days of losing that coverage.  Enrollment in Medicaid, Child Health Plus, and the Essential Plan is open all year. You can enroll in a Qualified Health Plan during the annual Open Enrollment Period, or a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) if you are eligible.  NY State of Health has opened a SEP during the COVID-19 public health emergency through August 15, 2020.

There are three ways to apply:

 All health plans offered through the Marketplace include doctor’s visits, hospital stays, emergency care, maternity, and newborn care, mental health and substance abuse disorder services, prescription drug coverage, rehabilitative and habilitative services, and devices, laboratory services; preventive and wellness services, chronic disease management, and pediatric dental and vision coverage.  Preventive care, such as routine office visits and recommended screenings are free.
