Program Description

Event Details

Art Club is a fun and creative program which spotlights a different artist each week.  Kids will listen to a story and create their own works of art inspired by artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Wassily Kandinsky, Gustav Klimt, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Romare Bearden, and Vincent van Gogh.

Romare Bearden was an artist whose early work focused on unity and cooperation within the African-American community.  He began his artistic career creating scenes of the American South, a theme which re-emerged in his collage works in the 1960's.  Listen to a story, learn about Bearden's life and art techniques, and create your own work of art inspired by him.

Register online and pick up your art kit at the Children's Desk beginning January 29.
