Author and historian Larry Samuel will discuss his book, Making Long Island: A History of Growth & the American Dream, which looks at the development of Long Island throughout the 20th century. He will talk about how the island evolved over the decades and largely detached itself from New York City to become a self-sustaining entity with its own challenges, exclusions and triumphs.
