    Details : Meet other knitters in the community. Bring your latest project and knit with others. Experienced knitters can help you learn something new or work with you to fix a mistake. The group gathers in the Meeting Room on the Lower Level.
  6. Writing Short Stories
    Time : 6:30 PM

    Details : This 6-week workshop focuses on the art and techniques of short story writing. Through group discussions and constructive critique, this workshop will help participants write the most powerful and effective short stories their imaginations can come up with, in a variety of styles and genres. We'll cover craft elements such as setting, character, voice, descriptiveness, and editing. We'll discuss how to formulate ideas, how to engage the reader, knowing when to end, and how to create an effective 15-page structure. In this supportive environment, participants can work on existing or new writings. The workshop is taught by New York Times bestselling author and award-winning journalist Robbie Woliver who also teaches writing and journalism at Farmingdale State College. There is a $25 fee, payable at registration beginning Oct. 5 for South Huntington cardholders. Enrollment is limited.
  7. No Bake Oreo Brownie Parfaits

    Details : Celebrate National Brownie Day in style by learning how to make your very own No Bake Oreo Brownie Parfait. Then enjoy your sweet treat while competing to see who knows their brownie trivia. Please let us know about any food allergies when signing up for the program. Registration begins November 24.
  8. North Shore Civil War Roundtable

    Details : The group will feature a book swap this month. Bring any books on the Civil War that you wish to get rid of, and pick up what you find of interest. Afterwards, watch a video of a lecture by Gary Gallagher to be followed by a discussion. All welcome.
