See the Solar Eclipse: Mon., Aug. 21, 1:30-3:30 p.m.

[solar-eclipse-glassesWEB.jpg] We will begin distributing glasses at 1:00 p.m. to SHPL card holders (four per family). At 1:25 p.m. we will distribute any remaining glasses to non-SHPL cardholders. Patrons of all ages are invited to join us for this historic celestial event. Bring your viewing boxes or glasses, and a blanket or chairs, to the lawn behind the library to witness the solar eclipse. Feel free to bring drinks and snacks. Viewing glasses will be available to those who attend the event (while supplies last). The eclipse will also be streamed live from NASA on the big screen in our theater.

Calling All Teen Thespians!

[Dear EdwinaWEB.jpg] If you are interested in theater, join Young Adult Librarian Jen Griffing on Wed., Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. for a special meeting to explore the idea of performing in a winter theater production of "Dear Edwina," a heartwarming musical about the joys of growing up. All interested 6th through 12th graders should attend.

BUS TRIP: 9/11 Museum and Freedom Tower - Mon. Sept. 25th

[911Mem&TowerWEB.JPG] We will take a guided tour of the National September 11 & Memorial Museum. Afterwards, there will be time on your own to enjoy lunch at Hudson Eats at Brookfield Place, an upscale dining terrace overlooking the Hudson River with 14 chef-driven eateries. Then we will meet for a visit to the Freedom Tower, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, where we will take in spectacular views of New York City and beyond. Please be aware that this trip will involve a lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes.

Tickets are $124 and include luxury motor coach transportation, admission to both venues, tour, escort and gratuity. South Huntington cardholders may sign up beginning June 10; others June 17 (CLICK HERE) . No refunds unless we can fill your seat from the waiting list.

New Overdrive Login Procedure

Passwords are now required to login to Live-brary Overdrive accounts. The password is the same one used to log into your library account or any of our databases. This change has been made by Overdrive to both protect patron privacy and to make the service more secure for library patrons and the member libraries. Please contact the Adult Reference Desk at 631-549-4411 if you require assistance resetting your password.
