Part-Time Page Openings


Description:

The South Huntington Public Library is seeking two enthusiastic, friendly and responsible individuals to join our staff as a page. Regular hours will include mornings, afternoons,evenings and weekends. The starting salary is $13.00 per hour.

Duties:
  • Shelve books and audio-visual materials.
  • Retrieve inter-library loan & reserved materials.
  • Clean audio-visual materials.
  • Occasional shelf shifting.
  • Reading shelves.

Qualifications:
  • High school graduate.
  • Computer literate.
  • Desire to work in a diverse community.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team.
  • Ability to work extra shifts is preferred.

Part-Time Entry Level Youth Services Librarian/Trainee position Available

The South Huntington Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, friendly and creative librarian to fill a part-time position in the Youth Services Department. The candidate should possess a strong interest and knowledge of children's and teen literature, technology and youth programming. Hours will include every other Wednesday 5-9 p.m. and every other Saturday 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday hours are available on a rotating basis. The starting salary for a Librarian I is $30.70 as of July 1, 2019. Flexibility is a plus.

Duties include: providing reference, research and reader's advisory services in a busy Youth Services Department which includes children and teen areas; assist patrons in the use of library resources and technology; assist with the facilitating and planning of youth programs; assist with collection development for the department.

Qualifications include: MLS from an ALA accredited library school or completion of a minimum of six credits towards the degree; understanding of a proactive customer service attitude; desire to work in a diverse community; a strong desire to work with children and teens; ability to work independently as well as on a team; proficiency/fluency in Spanish is a plus.
